About Tanzy & Borrego

Tanzy & Borrego Law Offices have been helping El Pasoans since 1983 deal with financial problems, and giving them PEACE OF MIND and a FRESH START.  We have two offices in El Paso to better serve you. 

Our bankruptcy attorneys and members of our support staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Edgar J. Borrego

      Edgar J. Borrego is a partner with Tanzy & Borrego Law Offices in El Paso,Texas and has been Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Consumer Bankruptcy since 1998.  Mr. Borrego has been a frequent speaker at many bankruptcy seminars, such as the State Bar of Texas Advanced Consumer Bankruptcy Course, the Western District of Texas Bankruptcy Bench Bar Conference, the University of Texas Consumer Bankruptcy Course and many others.
     He has also been involved in many bar activities such as being past president of the Border Bankruptcy Bar, a member of the State Bar of Texas Grievance Panel, and the Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission among others. 

     Mr. Borrego was born and raised in El Paso, having attended Morehead Jr. High and Coronado High School.  He later graduated with a B.B.A. from the Texas Tech University in 1989 and received his J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1993.  He also attended the Universidad De Salamanca in Salamanca Spain.

     Mr. Borrego is admitted to practice law in the State of Texas, the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

     When not at work, Mr. Borrego enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer.

Miguel A. Flores

      Miguel Flores graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1997 with an English and American Literature Degree and received his Law Degree from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas.  In 2007, he became Board Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  Since graduating from law school, Mr. Flores has been with the Law Firm of Tanzy & Borrego, and he is currently Vice-President of the firm.

     Mr. Flores is a past President of the Border Bankruptcy Association and also served as a Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-President of that association.  He has spoken at a State Bar seminar and served as a committee member for the changes and editing of the bankruptcy local rules in San Antonio, Texas.  Mr. Flores has taught bankrutpcy at the El Paso Community College, and he has also spoken to hundreds of local high school students across the city about money management.

     A product of local roots, Mr. Flores is a native El Pasoan, attending Vista Hills Elementary, Desert View Middle, and graduating from J.M. Hanks High School in 1991.  In high school, Mr. Flores played varsity football and ran track.  He despised neon colors, but admittedly wore the acid washed jeans on a regular basis.

     An avid mixed martial arts fan, Mr. Flores practices the sport three to four times in a week.  It is not uncommon for him to show up to work with a black eye, a fat lip or a swollen elbow to mention a few.  He has gained the respect of his employees and colleagues, and has yet to discover the nickname coined for him at the office.  Depending on who you ask, he is either "The Mighty Migs" or "Hamburger Face".

     Mr. Flores has two wonderful stepchildren and a son of his own.  Greg, age 20, is a saxophone player and is attending Trinity University.  Nina, age 14, is a cheerleader, volleyball player and a heartbreaker.  Evan, age 9, is a straight "A" student, loves legos and model trains, and thinks his dad is the coolest guy on the planet.

Marissa A. Martinez
Attorney & Counselor at Law
      Marissa Martinez is a 2010 graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Political Science.  She is the 2009 UTEP homecoming queen, an alumna of Alpha Xi Delta Women's Fraternity and a graduate of the Law School Preparation Institute.  Miss Martinez graduated Cum Laude from Texas Southern University - Thurgood Marshall School of Law in May 2013.  She was the recipient of the Dean's Merit Scholarship, a writing advisor for the first year legal writing students and the 2012-2013 Manager Editor of the Thurgood Marshall Law Review.

     Miss Martinez has been licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and the Western District of Texas since 2013.  She is a member of the El Paso Young Lawyer's Association.

     Miss Martinez is a proud native El Pasoan, attending Ascarate Elementary, Eastwood Middle School and Eastwood High School.  On her spare time Miss Martinez enjoys attending live sporting events and festivals, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
